Google Adsense is a service provided by Google where they will list advertisements on your website, and when someone clicks on one of those ads, you receive a payment.

Every time someone clicks on an advertisement, the advertiser pays Google an amount "per click". It might be $0.05, it might be $3.00, it depends on what the market is charging and what the advertiser has agreed to pay. You, as the "host website", will then receive a percentage of that payment.
