Rescue Disks
Last Updated: 7 November 2006
Another very important step in protecting your
data is to create "rescue disks". A
rescue disk can be an external drive, a floppy disk (less common now), or perhaps a CD, that you can use to start
your system and repair faults on your hard drive
or normal operating system.
Rescue disks are particularly useful if there are problems with your BIOS set up, systems files, or other parts of your operating system that can stop you from even accessing your hard drive. Rescue disks allow you to start your PC, look at what is wrong, fix it, or even revert your PC back to the way it was "pre-crash".
