Google Adwords is an advertising program offered by Google that allows you to be listed on the first page of their results, for keywords you choose, and you only pay "per click" (eg. $0.15 per click). This provides a fantastic way for small businesses in particular to compete with other larger busineses, being able to be on the first page of results almost instantly at very little cost. And there is no fear of overspending, as budgets can be specified (eg. $5 per day). Most search engines in Australia now provide a mixture of free and "pay-per-click" results. But often to be number 1-3 in the results you need to now pay per click. This fortnight's question comes Peter: "With Pay Per Click advertising, how much traffic can I get for $100 a month?" It depends on how much you decide to pay per click. Depending on the competitiveness of the keywords you want to target, the minimum you have to pay is as low as $0.01 (for more competitive keywords the minimum is sometimes around $0.15 to $0.20 per click). Let's say you bid $0.10 per click. You don't pay that unless someone actually clicks on your listing. So that means for $100 a month you would get 1000 visitors per month. And remember thats not just 1000 random visitors, but 1000 people who have actually searched for your kind of product or service. This is why Pay Per Click marketing compares so well to more traditional forms of advertising, where it would be difficult to guarantee 1000 interested visitors for $100. And you only pay once you get the visitor! |
