South West eCommerce Newsletter
Hi %%First Name%% and welcome to this edition of the South West eCommerce newsletter.
Starting straight away, you may see some changes to our newsletter.
For most of you, the changes will be all good. The core business of South West eCommerce has changed a great deal this year. We now make a significant part of our cashflow by helping others move their products through affiliate marketing.
Our range of websites and our blog are now working hard to not only move a range of quality products, but to help others who are following the same path. More than that, we’ve started learning how to make every business’s site more productive because others find it easier and relate more to it. All this is going to be good news for those of you who want your internet presence to be a major part of how you make your living.
The regular mailout will change a little though, because we’re taking a more proactive stance on things to make your web presence more effective. The time has come when we feel it’s worth pushing into the market, rather than just letting the net bring clients to you.
If you don’t want to take any of the options we put out there for you, that’s fine, we’ve been friends up til now and nothing should change, but if you like the idea of making more from the internet, then watch, read, learn, and even sometimes get the tools. We still only recommend things we really believe in.

- Happy Birthday Bing
Lets Get Social!
There is no doubt that social media sites (eg. Facebook, Twitter, etc) are the latest craze to take over the Internet, and they don't look like slowing down anytime soon.
In fact, they seem to be growing at an amazing pace. Did you know that Facebook now gets more visitors per day than the Google search page? Worldwide they now have over 400 million users, posting over 25 billion pieces of content (photos, blog posts, comments, news items) per month. And around 600,000 new Facebook accounts are opened every day.
So while search engine ranking is still very important for online business, social media is also now crucial, and businesses who don't consider it are missing out on a large chunk of the internet market. Or if you're an affiliate marketer, then social media is absolutely vital to your marketing strategy.
But it can be confusing to try and understand how the social media machine works, and how to make the most of it. We've scoured the net trying to find a good training product, and have come across one we think is pretty good. It's actually the story of Kate, who is a friend of one of our marketing guru contacts Ryan Deiss.
Ryan's friend Kate started a simple service she runs
mainly from her mobile phone, using social media, that is actually now banking
her over $10,000 a month consistently! And she has no website, no products, no list! She just uses social media and that's it.

Happy Birthday Bing
Microsoft's new search engine, Bing, has turned 1 year old.
Like all industries, competition is healthy, and you'll find many people who are concerned about Google's dominance of the search engine market. But Bing have done surprisingly well in their first year, with some interesting statistics:
- Bing searchers purchase 42 percent more than the average search user in the U.S.—21 percent more than Google users and 25 percent more than Yahoo! users (Source: comScore Media Metrix, March 2010)
- People who land on sites from organic search results via Bing are 78 percent more likely to click an ad, compared with arriving on the site from Google (Source: 2Chitika, December 2009)
- Bing advertisers had a lower average cost-per-click than those on Google, and they had more impressions than both Google and Yahoo! advertisers (The Web Visible Report: State of Small Business Online Advertising, Q4 2009)
Since May 2009, the Bing search user base has grown 11.8 percent, and the number of unique users has grown 32 percent to 93.8 million (Source: 4comScore Media Metrix, April 2010).
But not only is the growth of Bing already beginning to accelerate, when the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance is implemented in late 2010, the number of searchers using Bing will dramatically increase further.
If you're in Australia and you want to support Bing, it is currently used by the NineMSN search engine (www.ninemsn.com.au).
