Are You Ranking Lower Than You Think?

When you go to Google and type in your main keyword, or your business name, and you find your site listed nice and high in the results, did you know that this is not necessarily where everyone else sees it?

The reason is because Google are now more and more tailoring your search results based on your history and other interests. For example, if you have visited a website a number of times in the past (eg. your own website), Google may begin to show that site higher and higher in your search results (but not anyone elses).

They do this in a few ways. First of all, if you have a Google account, and are logged into that account, the search results will be affected by any Google bookmarks you have created, and other settings in your account. Second, whether you have a Google account or not, your search results are affected by your cookies and history. So if you've visited a site often, Google thinks that it is important to you, and so will show it higher in the search results.

What this means is that you may be seeing your site ranking number 1, but that may only be because Google is ranking it high on your computer only. Everyone else who does the same search may see your site much lower.

How can you get an accurate reading? First of all, make sure you're logged out of any Google account you may have. Secondly, clear your browser cache and history. Then redo the search.

An even more accurate method is to ask a friend or colleague, who hasn't visited your site before, to do a search on their computer and see what they get.

Just something to keep in mind. You may not be ranking as high as you think!

IM Eye Launched: Changing Keyword Research Forever

IM EyeThe guys out at Commission Blueprint have done it again, with a great new service that will benefit anyone who needs to do regular keyword research.

Anyone who does affiliate marketing, or any kind of online business where they need to regularly search for good keyword opportunities to target, will know how time consuming it can be to find good keywords that not only get enough traffic, but also have low enough competition to be able to rank high on.

Normally when you do keyword research, you employ the following method:

- You provide a seed keyword
- The tool starts to find as many 'related' keywords as it can
- You wait for the tool
- You select the keywords you’re interested in for further analysis of SEO or PPC competition etc
- Any keywords that pass the previous step are typically looked at manually to see what the competitive landscape is
- Hopefully you 'sort of' stumble upon a keyword or two that you can use

and so on.

What IM Eye does is turn all that around, so that you can just tell it what kind of opportunities you want, and then it finds the keywords for you.

As a very simple example, you could ask IM Eye to provide you a list of keywords where:

* Monthly search volume is greater than 15,000
* Competing pages < 50,000
* Intitle competing pages < 10,000
* No exact domains exist in the top 10 SERPS
* No youtube videos in the top 10 SERPS
* No Squidoo lenses in the top 10 SERPS
* No Hubpages in the top 10 SERPS
* No Blogspot sites in the top 10 SERPS
* Adwords high bid estimate > $5.00

And that's just one example. There are many other things it can do, too many to list here, so why not check out the introductory video, or even better sign up for the no obligation 7 day free trial, which will let you test it out with no limits, and you'll get to see how powerful this new tool is.

This is one of the most amazing new advances for any serious affiliate marketer.

Google Page Rank Update

Google "Page Rank" is the value that Google assigns to all web pages on the Internet (out of 10), which indicates it's "popularity" (or some would say "reputation") in Google's eyes. The higher your page rank the better and it is one of many factors involved in search engine ranking. Page Rank is almost solely determined by the number of links pointing to your website, and so is a great indicator of your overall link popularity, which is a major factor in search engine ranking.

Google updates it's public Page Rank numbers a few times per year, and the latest update went through recently, somewhere around 4 April 2010. So if you like to follow your Page Rank, make sure you check it again now and see if there has been any improvement or not.

Don't know how to check your Page Rank? Try visiting a site like www.checkpagerank.net and enter your web address.

The higher the result the better, but anything around 3 or 4 and above (out of 10) is considered good. If you are even higher, that's great news. If you're below that, then you should consider getting some help to increase incoming links to your website. One such option is our Search Engine Optimization Service.
