SWeCS AFFILIATE PROGRAM LAUNCHED
Start earning money today from your website
or newsletter!
South West eCommerce Strategies has launched
it's Affiliate program, where you can now start
earning money simply by placing our logo or link
on your website.
The process is simple. First, you sign up for
the Affiliate program for free. You are then
provided with a unique tracking code that gets
added to your website. Then, when someone visits
your site, then clicks on the link to visit our
site, and then subsequently purchases something
from us, you get a percentage of the sale. It's
that easy!
And the sale doesn't have to be immediate.
Using cookies technology, if the visitor leaves
our site but then returns within the following 30
days and purchases something, you'll still get
the commission.
So how much do we pay? Because our Affiliate
program is run worldwide, and we need to operate
in one currency, the commission structure is
offered in US dollars. If you're in Australia,
don't worry, you can still participate. In fact,
you can participate regardless of where you live.
You'll simply be sent a cheque in US dollars that
you can deposit straight into your account.
Here's what we are currently offering:
Website hosting - US$10 (around AUS$14)
per sale
Search Engine Ranking Service - US$35
(around AUS$50) per sale
Website design - US$1.00 (around
AUS$1.40) per qualified request for a new
website quote. That is, if someone fills
in our form to get a free website quote,
and they are a genuine person, you'll get
US$1.00.
Basic Search Engine Submission - US$3
(around AUS$4.50) per sale
Pay Per Click Management - US$6 (around
AUS$8.50) per sale
SWeCS Edit Self-Editing System - US$15
(around AUS$21) per sale
Not only that, but if you refer other
affiliates to us, you will also receive 10% of
all their sales! That is, if someone visits your
site, then clicks on our link to visit our site,
then signs up to be an affiliate, you'll get 10%
of all their future commissions too.
Our Affiliate program is run through
Shareasale.com. To sign up for free to be a SWeCS
Affiliate, simply visit www.shareasale.com/shareasale.cfm?merchantID=5693.
The only conditions are:
- We will not tolerate any kind of spamming
whatsoever. If we find that you are
promoting our services while spamming
people you will be removed from our
program immediately and no payments will
be made to you.
- Participation in the program is only
through the www.shareasale.com
affiliate network. You must apply and be
approved first. Click here to become a
SWeCS Affiliate through Shareasale.com
- We will not approve commissions for any
"self referrals".
Remember, it is absolutely free to join. If
you've already got a website or perhaps an email
newsletter, why not use that traffic you get to
make some extra money?

BACKING UP
There is no single precaution that protects
your data better than regularly backing up your
system. This doesn't mean making copies of
programs you already have on disk or CD (like
Windows), but backing up your data (eg. your
invoices, email messages, payroll data, mailing
lists, letters, etc). That way, even if your
whole system goes down, you are able to copy
everything back on without losing your important
data.
How often should you back up your data? Well,
it depends how valuable your data is, but we
recommend every day. That means that even if your
system was lost you would only lose up to one day
of data.
How do you back up? In most cases the size of
your data you need to back up will be greater
than what can fit on a standard floppy disk. This
means you need to invest in a device to store
larger amounts of data. The two most common
devices for this are a Zip Disk or a rewriteable
CD-ROM.
It's not inconvenient or hard to back up data.
Zip Disks and CD-ROMs usually come with software
that enables you to set up what you want stored,
and then after that a simple click of the mouse
will do the job each time you want to back up.
Some programs even let you schedule backup
automatically, so you don't even have to remember
to do it!
Another important point, whether you are using
Zip Disks or CD-ROMs, is that it is important to
save your data on a different disk each day and
rotate the disks every few days. For example, you
could have a disk for Mondays, Tuesdays, etc
through to Fridays. That way, even if your
computer and your disk both failed (extremely
unlikely) then you will have data safely backed
up from the day before.
For a great product that simplifies backing up,
including all your emails, visit www.handybackup.com.

SENSIS.COM.AU
If you're in Australia, you've probably seen the
TV commercials advertising a new search engine
provided by www.sensis.com.au.
As a business with a website, do
you need to advertise in it? Well, they are
offering free inclusion at the moment at www.sensis.com.au/contact_us_submitSite.do?method=doDisplaySubmitSite,
plus it seems that in the near future they may be
offering higher paid positioning. But it's
probably too early to tell whether the paid
advertising will be worth it. It's fine for there
to be a huge marketing campaign for the new
search engine, but the important test is whether
anyone will use it. If it doesn't get large
amounts of searches, then it may not be cost
effective to go to the trouble of the paid
advertising.
Time will tell how it is
received. What will determine it's popularity?
Relevant results. If people can go to it and find
what they want, and quickly, then they'll come
back.
But Sensis may have a little
while to go before they get there yet. On some
searches the results are OK, but we just tried to
find ourselves by searching for "website
design" in Bunbury. The top 2 results were
for an interior ceiling designer and an aerial
photography business. Only 1 out of the first 10
results were actually anything to do with website
design.
