Do You Have A Search Engine Penalty?
It's not common, but some sites out there get penalised by the likes of Google. This happens when a site purposely, or inadvertently, breaks the search engine rules, usually by employing dubious tactics to improve their search engine ranking.
Such tactics can include overstuffing keywords into your text, placing hidden text on your website, participating in link farms, and other similar tactics.
When you get a penalty, your site will usually get pushed very far down the results, but it is often difficult to tell the difference between a penalty and just poor ranking results, and of course Google etc won't tell you.
Well there is now a new tool (free) that will give you an idea of whether your site MIGHT be penalised. It can be found at www.seopenalty.com. Simply visit the site and enter your web address, and that's it. By doing some simple checks and calculations, the site can provide you with a general idea of whether you may be penalised or not.
However, the results are not 100% certain (even their own site says they have around 95% accuracy). That's because there could be other factors which have decided whether your site has been penalised or not. But this tool gives you a quick check for starters.
If you find that your site has been penalised, then you should seek professional advice about how to fix the problems on your site that may have caused the penalty.
